LOTW’s Boathouse
A new dock & boathouse located on the vast Lake of the Woods features a screen room & sauna, storage, and tandem boat slips. The unique linear configuration directly responds to the dock's limited developable width as prescribed by the local building regulations, resulting in a 25-foot narrow x 100-foot long projection into the lake.
The narrow width posed a challenge for the design team as to how best to accommodate two watercraft and dock space for sun and play. A substantial operable wall is incorporated to maximize the functionality and flexibility of the waterfront dock space. Polycarbonate sheets, as typically used in greenhouse buildings, serve as the primary cladding, ensuring maximal diffused interior light throughout.
