Cool Gardens 2018 Submission - Küil, Polski Ogorski
What could be more refreshingly kuil in the middle of a hot Winnipeg’s summer then a transposition of what most would regard as one of the coolest activities - European Alpine Skiing? Küil Poleski Ogorski is inspired by the romantic notion of this classic winter activity. KPO takes the slalom course to its absurd conclusion, with the installation of 500 spring mounted HDPE poles cascading down the bank of the Red River. This matrix allows would-be Cool Garden patrons and unsuspecting passer-by the opportunity to play, dodge, wind-sprint, and chill in their interpretation of après-ski activities amongst our irreverent summer slalom course.
The KPO is designed to perform double duty - LED path lights rest atop each pole, illuminating the night. This field of surging points of light, slowly waving in space with the continuous ebb and flow of the night breeze encouraging sleepless Pole-Orgor-skiers to come and join the dance.
